Bagging groceries at Cub a success

Our Cub Foods fundraiser in Cambridge held on Sunday, May 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. was a success, bringing in a total of funds raised $723.46. We thank the players/parents who volunteered their time to help make this event successful and they are as follows:

2008 Boys Awards

Most Valuable Player
Awarded to the team’s most valuable player, as voted on by players and coaches.

Most Improved Player
This award is presented to the hockey player who has shown the most improvement during the course of the season. The award is selected by a vote among the team and coaches.

This award recognizes the hardest working player in both practice and in games. The recipient of this award has demonstrated his efforts consistently through his actions and is chosen by a vote of the team and coaches.

Best Defensive Player
This award recognizes the team member who made the largest contribution to the team through strong defensive play. The player is selected by a vote among the team and coaches.

Rookie of the Year
Awarded to the season’s most outstanding rookie. The recipient is selected by a vote among the team and coaches.

Awarded to the team’s most valuable junior varsity player, as voted on by players and coaches.

Vikings Hockey Award
Awarded to the team member recognized by teammates and coaches for outstanding contributions, and for superlative levels of determination, courage, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit.

Unsung Hero Award
This award is presented by the coaching staff to recognize an unsung hero. This player displays exemplary attitude, character, sportsmanship and team leadership in ways often immeasurable and intangible.

Hobey Baker High School Character Award
The goal of the award is to develop, recognize, and reward “character” and sportsmanship. A deserving player of this award demonstrates traits that include: positive attitude, outstanding sportsmanship, excellent work ethic, unselfish team player, coachability, great role model and exemplary citizenship. This high school level award is a natural extension of the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

2008-09 Captains
Captains are voted upon by returning lettermen and the coaching staff. Characteristics of a captain include leadership, sportsmanship, integrity and ability. A captain must be a respected leader by his teammates, coaches, school and members of the North Branch area community.
